The steam drum is the central pressure vessel that separates steam from water, houses the steam-water separation internals, and connects the boiler's circulation system. Every water tube boiler has one.

Upper drum — steam-water separation

  • Cylindrical pressure vessel with dished heads — houses steam separation internals
  • Connects downcomer tubes (water down) and riser tubes (steam-water mixture up)
  • Internal separators, chevron dryers, and feedwater distribution pipes supplied as required
  • Shell plate: SA-516 Gr.70 and equivalent — material grade confirmed per code and design pressure
  • PWHT (post-weld heat treatment) standard on all pressure joints

Lower drum — sludge collection & blowdown

  • Lower pressure vessel that collects sludge, scale and blowdown from circulation water
  • Connects to steam drum via downcomers and to water wall / generating tubes via risers
  • Smaller diameter than steam drum — same pressure class, same code compliance
  • Blowdown nozzles, inspection ports, and chemical dosing connections included
  • Often supplied as a pair with the steam drum for complete boiler circulation system

Our engineers review your drawings and boiler data. We confirm shell diameter, wall thickness calculation, nozzle layout, head type, PWHT requirements, and material grade. If drawings are missing, we can work from parameters and existing drum datasheets. → Engineering review within 2–3 business days

Fabrication with full inspection

Shell rolling, head forming, nozzle welding (certified welders, ASME IX), PWHT in furnace, radiographic testing (RT) per code requirements, hydrostatic pressure test at 1.5× MAWP. Dimensional report issued against approved drawings. → EN 10204 3.1 MTC · RT per code · Hydro test records

Export packing & shipment

Drum is cleaned, nozzles capped, and packed for sea freight (open-top container or flat rack for oversized drums).
